Following the release of their sublime debut Super Snõõper on Third Man Records, Tennessee egg-punks Snõõper close out 2023 with Yardbirds cover ‘for yr love’. Despite being one of Snõõper’s lengthier offerings, coming through the gate at a whopping 1 min 48 seconds, not a moment is wasted. What we have here is an honest to god love song, imagine The Yardbirds distilled, disrupted and distorted then throw in some furious bongo playing for good measure. Egg punk is by nature the lowest of lofi, and during the intro of the song we can hear the hissy tape on which the song is recorded speeding up before being whisked away by chanted refrain and scratchy guitars. For evidence of what can be achieved when you embrace the egg punk ethos and stop taking yourself so seriously, look no further than Snõõper. -Adam Brown
